The Pinoy Chess Team (Men's Team) were country's number 1 GM Wesley So (Board 1), GM Oliver Barbosa (Board 2), also 1st Asia's GM Eugene Torre (Board 3) GM Mark Pargua (Board 4), and GM Oliver Dimakiling (alternate). The women's team were Woman International Master Catherine Perena (Board 1), Woman National Master Janelle Mae Frayna (Board 2), WNM Jedara Docena (Board 3), WNM Jan Jodilyn Fronda (Board 4) and WFM Jose, Rulp Ylem (alternate).
So far after round 3, The Men's team belong to top 20's and will be competing round 4 against the one of the chess powerhouse Armenia where world blitz champion GM Levon Aronian is playing on board one and our GM Wesley So is accountable to play with GM Aronian with almost 200 points higher elo rating. Our Filipino GM's is playing against these Armenia's GM with an inferior ratings but with a great heart, and oh wait - as I live blogging this one - and the results suddenly appear, GM Wesley So drew against GM Aronian, GM Oliver Barbosa with a very inferior black position drew against GM Movsesian, GM Mark Paragua in supposed to be a winning position drew against GM Akopian, and IM Dimakiling lost to GM Sargissian. Round 4 in Women's team will be competing to Mexico WIM Perena won, Frayna won against, Fronda won against, and Jose lost. But Philippines has 3-1 to Mexico in Women's team.
